Software license terms

Version 1.0 · 23 October 2026

This is an English translation, for convenience. If the two versions differ, the Spanish version prevails.

1. Purpose and programs covered

This license governs the use of the programs of the Project Nix family (hereinafter, “the Software”), created and published by Javier García Pérez (hereinafter, “the Author”) through projectnix.com.

It covers the current programs: Clonix, Fonix, Recnix, Backnix, Playnix, Meternix, as well as any other program, version, update or add-on that the Author publishes in the future under the Project Nix brand, unless it comes with a different license.

2. Ownership

The Software, including its source and object code, design, interface, documentation, names and logos, is an original work by Javier García Pérez, who is the sole holder of all intellectual property rights over it, under the Spanish Intellectual Property Act (Royal Legislative Decree 1/1996). All rights are reserved. Using the Software does not transfer any ownership of it.

3. Free license to use

The Author grants the person or entity that has received an authorized license (hereinafter, “the User”) a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the Software, on the computers and systems (macOS, Windows and Linux) that the Author allows, and only under the terms of this document.

The Software being free of charge does not mean that it is free software or in the public domain: the User receives permission to use it, not rights over the program. Voluntary donations to the project do not extend the rights of this license.

4. Granting and activating licenses

Each license is authorized by the Author individually and by hand. Only a key issued by the Author through the official channels (projectnix.com and licencias@projectnix.com) is valid. The Author may accept or reject any request and set the duration, number of computers and conditions of each license.

The Software needs an internet connection to activate and to validate the license periodically. Keys are personal and may not be shared, published or resold.

5. Prohibited uses

Without the Author’s prior written permission, the User may not:

  • copy or reproduce the Software, except for one backup copy for their own use;
  • modify, translate, adapt or create derivative works of the Software;
  • decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer it, except in the specific cases expressly allowed by law;
  • distribute, publish, sell, rent, lend or transfer the Software or its license keys, or offer it for download from sites other than projectnix.com;
  • circumvent, disable or tamper with the licensing, activation or update system, or any other protection measure;
  • remove or alter the authorship and copyright notices;
  • use the names “Project Nix”, those of its programs or their logos in their own products or services, or in any way that may cause confusion.

6. Updates

The Author may publish updates that the Software installs automatically or with the User’s confirmation. Updates are covered by this license. The Author may modify, suspend or stop maintaining any program at any time.

7. Revocation

The Author may revoke or deactivate a license at any time if the User breaches these terms. Once it is revoked, the User must stop using the Software and delete all copies of it.

8. No warranty

The Software is offered free of charge and “as is”, without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. The Author does not guarantee that it will work without errors or interruptions, or that it is fit for any particular purpose. The User is responsible for checking their copies, recordings and data.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the Author shall not be liable for any damage, loss of data, recordings or material, loss of profits or harm of any kind arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the Software.

10. Infringements

Any unauthorized use may give rise to the civil and criminal actions that apply under Spanish intellectual property law.

11. Changes to this license

The Author may update this license. The current version will be published on projectnix.com. Continuing to use the Software after a change means accepting the new version.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

This license is governed by Spanish law. For any dispute, the parties submit to the courts of Pinto (Madrid), unless the law sets another mandatory jurisdiction, such as that of the consumer’s place of residence.
